Meet Bear, our incredible Appendix (Thoroughbred & Quarter Horse) who’s a true testament to a life well-lived. At nearly 30 years old, Bear has done it all—starting out as a racehorse, moving on to being a movie star, and then excelling in jumping, cross country, dressage, beach galloping, and trail rides. If there’s an equestrian activity out there, Bear’s probably done it! He’s a true professional who always gives his best, making him the ultimate teacher for countless amateur riders over the years.
Bear has done it all
Bear came to Thea in quite a dramatic way—underweight, sore feet, and caught up in a bizarre dispute involving an A-list celebrity over his board and expenses (because what story in LA isn’t a little wild?)
But after 13 wonderful years together, Bear has become the heart of the ranch. Thea’s deep desire to provide him with a loving retirement home was actually the driving force behind acquiring the property!

Now semi-retired and enjoying daily freedom on the ranch, Bear still loves light trails and beginner walk lessons. He may be a seasoned pro, but he’s perfect for teaching new riders with patience and heart. Bear truly embodies the spirit of the ranch, and we are lucky to have him!
